RE: California Proposition 65 – Safe Water and Toxic Enforcement Act
To our Customers: Originally passed in 1986, California’s Proposition 65 (Prop 65) is intended to provide California residents with information about compounds in the environment around them that might be harmful. Prop 65 requires that California publish a list of chemicals that have been linked to cancer, reproductive harm, or developmental defects. This list, which must be updated at least once a year, has grown to include approximately 800 chemicals since it was first published in 1987. The list contains a wide range of naturally occurring and synthetic chemicals that include additives or ingredients in pesticides, common household products, food, drugs, dyes, or solvents. Prop 65 dictates that California businesses with more than 10 employees that sell products in the state – or businesses that sell to California consumers, regardless of where the business is located – are required to provide “clear and reasonable warnings” about a chemical’s ability to cause cancer, reproductive harm, or birth defects on packaging or labels. Nothing in the law or regulations requires businesses to provide warnings outside of California. Our Silver Cleaner is currently our only formula that requires this disclosure, on both the product itself, as well as any website where it is listed for ecommerce. If you have locations in California, or sell/distribute to consumers in California, your products should include the recommended warning label. This will be recommended to you at the time your label is produced, as long as you have communicated to us that you meet these criteria.
Please find an example of the recommended warning for your website on our page here:
